Voters Just Don’t Know the Truth

Wow - you can say that again.
I ran across an article over at the Daily Journal written about Bob Parker who is running against Jo Ann Emerson for the 8th District Seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. This article references the reason he decided to campaign against Emerson:
“Parker said the influence multi-national and international corporations have on Congress concerns him. He decided he would campaign against Emerson because of her votes in favor of bailing out Wall Street financial firms. (Emerson voted in favor of the bailout in the fall, but voted against the second half of the plan in February.)”
Then some goober who goes by the handle “g’s thoughts” posted his (or her) two cents on the matter:
“Congresswoman Emerson DID NOT vote in favor of the Wall St. bailout. I would hope a congressional candidate would have their facts straight and not base their campain on half truths in an attempt to get the uninformed vote.”
– g’s thoughts
Good grief, if you’re going to post a nasty little comment like that - BE CORRECT… quit drinking the Kool-Aid and it might be a good idea to check your spelling.
Congresswoman Jo Ann Emerson DID vote in favor of the Wall Street Bailout - as well as H.R.1105 - Omnibus Appropriations Act of 2009 and others.
Makes me wonder how many people REALLY know how their representatives voted. When we toss them all out in 2010 - make sure you know their voting record… It’s easy to find, just go to your handy-dandy search engine or one of my personal favorite sites, OpenCongress.org.
I was glad to see that Bob Parker’s blog responded to that remark and rebutted with links to the Final Vote Results of H.R. 1424 Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008. I include them here as well as a link to the original article and comment.
Emerson’s “YEA” vote for the Bailout is posted for all to see right here:
