Neil deGrasse Tyson interviews Ray Kurzweil who predicts singularity will occur by the year 2029. In 1958, Stanislaw Ulam wrote about a conversation with John von Neumann who said that, "the ever accelerating progress of technology ... gives the appearance of approaching some essential singularity in the history of the race beyond which human affairs, as we know them, could not continue." Neumann’s alleged definition of the singularity was that it is the moment beyond which "technological progress will become incomprehensibly rapid and complicated."
